ESPON Database 2013, the Draft Final Report is now online

The Database will play a major role in the promotion of ESPON as an important player in the field of databases at the European scale. In partnership with Demifer, Edora Foci, ReRisk, TIPTAP and Priority 3 projects, the project provides a substantial database on European regions and cities, with very important added value for policymakers working on territorial cohesion.

The Draft Final Report, which has as an annex additional technical reports, includes two parts:

1.    Application, which presents the software oriented elements and some conceptual elements that drive the software implementation;

2.    Thematic, which presents the different technical reports elaborated in order to improve the scope of the database in terms of space, time, scale, geographical objects, fields of policy action.

ESPON Database 2013 is produced by UMS 2414 RIATE Université Paris Diderot Paris 7 (FR) as Lead Partner, University Joseph Fourier Grenoble 1 (FR), Autonomous University of Barcelona (ES), Free University of Brussels (BE), Alexandru Ioan Cuza University (RO), CNRS Délégation Paris A (FR), University of Luxembourg (LU) as Project Partners.

Read the Draft Final Report as well as all background documents at the ESPON Website. Try the Database at the ESPON Website.

The ESPON Database and HyperAtlas are trying to do something similar to AIRO, just at the European level.  They provide comparable, statistical information at NUTS 1, and 2 levels as well as some other formats and limited mapping outputs.
