Prof. Cliff Hague (UK ESPON Contact Point and Professor Emuritus of Planning at Herriot-Watt University) shares his views and reflections on our succesful ESPON workshop in Dundalk last Thursday afternoon. He notes positively that key European concepts are being put into practice in cross-border cooperation and spatial planning on island of Ireland. These include multi-level governance, planning for functional regions and an emphasis on strength in diversity. He concludes by suggesting that planning in England can learn from experience ‘across the Irish Sea’. Read the full blog post here.

A full report on the workshop is available here.

We would like to thank all those who participated and contributed to the discussion last Thursday.
