The ESPON 2007 – 2013 Programme places a key emphasis on the use of ESPON results by policymakers and other practitioners. This focus is supported through four key principles:
- Research themes are defined by policy demand;
- The use of ESPON results by stakeholders;
- Improvement of European knowledge base on territorial cohesion and development, including data, indicators, maps and models;
- Support of European wide understanding by communicating new comparable information for policy development.
Projects funded under the ESPON 2013 Programme are classified according to four specific priorities.
